The second key in on page optimization is the title of your website. This is the words you displayed at the top of the browser when you are viewing your webpage. It is also the top line of text you click on when you look at the results of a search.  

You located the library using the crossroads of the domain name. Now you go to the card catalog and look for the subject of your interest. This is the title for your website. You can change the title of your website using the title meta tag. This is found on a page which is in the background of your site when you see it displayed on your computer. 

If you have domain name and title that are very relevant to the subject your webpage  is about it is much easier to improve web site search engine rankings. The next step falls right in line with the first 2 steps. You now need content on your website that is relevant to your domain name and title. 

If your website is about Mexican food you would want not just the words Mexican food. You would want words like, cooking, ingredients, recipes and of course names of Mexican dishes like tacos and many more. The content should reflect words related to food and of course an emphasis on Mexican food.

The second way to improve web site search engine rankings is off page optimization. The best way I know how to explain this is by looking at the Presidential elections. The web pages with the most votes win. However winning votes from California is much more important than winning the votes in Wyoming.  

So what is a vote for a webpage? A vote is called a backlink. This is simply another webpage that has a link that directs people to your webpage. Now what makes a link have a lot of power like winning California as compared to getting just a few votes by winning Wyoming?
